Surrender I leave for awhile and nobody can pick up the ball?

There have been no posts in the last 30 days in this forum.

Where the hell did the pride go on this board?

This board that put 24 teams up in two leagues at one point in time?

Let's face the facts here, jackie. Having their asses handed to them on a weekly basis by Lions fans was more than even these pasty cheese loving fools could handle. Following that up with losing to the Bears and Vikings fans was the straw that broke the camel's back.

If only the idiots were smart enough to not have blown their 1st round picks on the likes of FaRVe, Driver, Franks, Grant ... the list goes on, and gets more ridiculous, but you see the picture. It's impossible to succeed as a fantasy owner when you're a homer, and even worse when you're a media whore FaRVe praising homer.

Eh, well. Twas fun while it lasted. I miss screaming "Opa!" week after week as another Packers pud goes down in flames.

I have no idea how to run a fantasy team, although I have been intrigued with the idea for some time.

So I have a full year now to prepare....and maybe one or three of you fine gentlemen would 'splain it to me?

Simple, K. Different leagues score differently, but basically ... you draft a team (everyone in the NFL is available) ... of course, you pick in a specific order, round to round ... and build your team ... the number of players at each position in your starting lineup also varies league to league. But a basic setup might be 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 DEF, 1 K/ST and 6 'bench' players (of any position).

Now pts. also vary league to league, but you must start a player in each position every week. That player's score for the week is based on his performance in real NFL action. For example, perhaps the league scores 1 pt. per reception and 1 pt. per 10 yards for a wide reciever ... and you have Calvin Johnson and he has 5 catches for 72 yards and 1 TD. You would score 5 for the rec., 7 for the yards, and 6 for the TD ... so he would score 18 on the week (in this scenario).

K/ST pts. are a team value. You basically pick 1 team's special teams unit, and get pts. for field goals, kick return TDs, etc. Same for defense. 1 team's defense, and you score based on pts. allowed, turnovers, etc.

Every week you are pitted in a head to head matchup with another team in the league. Whichever team scores the most collectively, gets the win.

Of course players have bye weeks ... so this is where maintaining your bench becomes a major key in success. The right combination of bench players and/or free agent moves and trades throughout the season are essential to offsetting bye weeks and injuries.

Hope this made a little sense. Good luck if you decide to jump into one this season. It can be a lot of fun with a group of good owners, and makes every game in the league interesting because you have a stake in at least a player or two in many of them!
