Johnny Jolly has received shock probation for 10 years. Assuming he can make a strong argument, ala AR who made a compelling argument that his yes hope is football, not sure it's an easy case, he could be reinstated.

Putting aside the entire practicality of it and whether it would ever occur, to me, it's an interesting situation. I would think TT would be hesitant to bring him back, but then again, nothing has ever been shown that Johnny Jolly wasn't a very good team mate. I actually believe in redemption and mercy. I also believe he's a very interesting story. I've been as hard as anyone on Jolly, but the strong defense and reasoning by AR about him and the importance of the team and game in his life gave me pause to think or rethink.

I think this could end up a very interesting decision for TT. Glad it's his.

So the Packers have all of their draft choices under contract and signed 5 free agents out of their rookie camp. I like the rookie salary cap. No holdouts waiting to see what another player is getting and they start learning sooner.

As usual, the Packers publically say, "we're not worried" about the defense. But I'm wondering if the defense pulls another stinker next season like last year if Capers job is on the line?

TT made some defensive moves, but I wonder if the defense doesn't show some strength this year if the Packers will look for a more aggressive approach.

THE GOOD: The No.1 overall pick of his class, quarterback Matthew Stafford battled injuries early in his career, but was the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year in 2011 with 5,038 passing yards and 41 touchdowns

THE BAD: A former top high school recruit, wide receiver Derrick Williams was drafted in the third round, but struggled as a pass-catcher (9 career catches) and proved to be unreliable on as a return man – was cut prior to 2011

JURY STILL OUT: Safety Louis Delmas has missed parts of his first three seasons with injuries, including a torn MCL in 2011 that forced him out of five games, but he is expected to return healthy in 2012
Re-Grade: A-
Another year of Stafford being healthy and producing will lead me to agree with the assessment. At this point however, Stafford, Pettigrew, Delmas, Levy and Hill do make this to be a pretty damned productive draft. Interesting to take a look back and do a true assessment after players have had a few years to play and develop.

Lions 2012 draft grade? I'll throw out a C+. No argument, be it best available player or whatever else Mayhew can throw at me explain the Broyles gamble in the 2nd round. Reiff should be a no brainer though, and I feel like Bentley may have been a sneaky good sleeper type guy if they can bulk him up just a little.

Also can't understand the Whitehead pick, and the trade up for him (a likely special teams guy and nothing more) ... as well as the pick of Ronnell Lewis (particularly because I can't seen where this guy fits in to a 4-3 defense ... too small to play end, really ... to slow for OLB ... ) ... but that's why I'm not being paid millions I suppose. Haha.

So far Mayhew and Schwartz have done a pretty nice job, post-Millen ... so I'll have to trust their judgement at this point and see where we are after a look at some of these kids in the preseason.
